The ultimate goal of us publishing contents on social medias is to eventually be on every single big platform. So that we can maximize our reach and be able to speak to our audience on different platforms. But in order to do that, it is a very time consuming process to create different contents for different platforms. And it will make you hate your life. When it comes being omnipresent, being everywhere, you want to work smarter not harder. Let me show you a smarter and better way to do it in this episode. ---TRANSCRIPT--- (00:00): What's up, everybody. Welcome back to Internet Profits Blueprint podcast. This is Lik Foon. Today I want to share with you how you can make the most out of your contents so that it is not just a one-time thing, so that you can maximize the visibility and attention that each piece of content can bring you. And so that it can help you in growing and building your audience on social media. (00:27): So as content creators, we are always trying our best to create the best content that we can put out there that hopefully people will want to consume and hopefully go viral. We will spend a lot of time on brainstorming the ideas. We create a content. We post it. And usually within 24 to 48 hours, if one piece of content didn't take off, it just died. We spent so much time, energy, and effort on each piece of content, but most of them never take off. It just end there. (01:06): There are always good contents that we created that never take off for whatever reason. So the question that I always think about is, how can I make the most out of one piece of content that I created? How can I maximize the reach for each piece of content? Because since you have been putting in a lot of effort, a lot of time, energy and thought process into creating one piece of content, you better don't waste it. You want to be able to squeeze the most out of the contents that you create. You want to be able to maximize the reach and visibility you can get from one piece of content. And I found that the way to do it is by using this concept of repurposing contents. (01:56): I first learned this concept from my mentor Peng Joon. He called it the content multiplier formula. Basically what it means is, you will create one core piece of content and then repurpose it across different platforms. Usually you will start with video as your core content, because a lot of things can be done from video. You can turn the transcription into blog post, you can take the audio and turn into a podcast episode and you can create quote cards from what you said in the video. There are so many things that you can create from one video. (02:32): By doing this, you are making sure that you are squeezing the most out of one piece of content so that you are not just letting it to sit on one platform and die over time. You are trying to get it to reach as many people as possible. The key to repurposing content is you want to match the content with the context of the platform. (02:57): It means that you need to give the platform what it wants. For example, if the core piece of my content is podcasts, because that's where I started, the other platform that I'm currently growing is Instagram. So I can repurpose my content on podcasts onto Instagram. So I will pick the contents on podcasts that I saw got more downloads, that people are listening to and repurpose it into Instagram. But I don't want to just repurpose it onto Instagram in audio format because that's not how people consume contents on Instagram. (03:40): Remember I said that you have to match the content to the context of the platform? You have to understand how your audience likes to consume on Instagram. So right now the format that is working really well on Instagram is called carousel where you are stacking a bunch of images together and people can keep swiping over the images to see the next image. (04:06): So for me, when I repurpose my podcast contents to Instagram, I will create it in the format of carousel. I just summarize the key lessons from my podcast episodes and design it into a bunch of images so that my audience on Instagram can consume them in the format of images. That is how I repurpose my contents. It doesn't take me a lot of time to do this because I don't have to go through the entire brainstorming and planning process again, to create that one piece of content. I just repurpose my content from one platform to every other platforms. And that is how you can get your life back as a content creator. Because if you were to create completely different pieces of content for different platforms, you will hate your life because you will lost your life. You will get stuck in creating contents over and over again. (05:09): And another thing is, our audience will have their own favorite way to consume contents. Some people will love podcasts. Some people don't. Some people love reading words. Some hate it. Some love to watch videos, some never. So you want to make sure that you have different format of contents created for different platform to target different group of audience. (05:35): And like I said, ideally, it is the best to start with video because from one video you can create so many formats from it for different platforms. But you don't have to do it this way if you are not comfortable being on camera, because I know that it is not easy. But the key is just pick the platforms that is comfortable for you and that you can repurpose your contents in different formats. For me, I know that ultimately what I want to do is to create videos on YouTube and use that as my core piece of content and then repurpose them to other platforms so that I am everywhere. But that is the plan for future. For right now, my focus will be on podcast and Instagram. And I enjoy the process very much. Anyway. I hope this helps you in your content creation process to get more exposure and visibility across different platforms and still have a life. Thank you for listening today and take care.
